Prism Thoughts

Above my sink,
reflective surface,
light reflects refractions
through facets
of prism hung
to catch light waves
and deflect radiance
of color hidden
within invisible
streams of air.

Clear glass
cut, shaped
by grinding -
its capability
to be brilliant
dependant upon
the number of
plane surfaces
it's been given.

Thoughts are
contemplative
as the grime left behind
is cleansed, wiped,
washed with water
and sunk
below visibility.

I place items
special to me,
reminders
of what I seek -
that throughout my days,
as I pause at this place,
I may absorb
transformation.

Prism thoughts
of how to be
a reflector
of the Light
that shines on me;
of immersion
with the Truth
that will enable me
to emit
crystal clear
transparency.

"You are the Sun" by Sara Groves:
Because everywhere He is, there is warmth and light.
Over my sink, there is warmth and light.
I keep turning my face to Him, because otherwise
what light can I reflect?
My prism reminds me of precisely this.

  2. Ooh! I like this analogy! Like a prism we can reflect God's light in all sorts of ways to all sorts of people! Beautiful and inspiring words, Brianne!

    1. Thank you, Beth! Exactly - the more facets we can reflect from and upon, the better!

  3. Better above your sink than hanging from your rear view mirror; I've been blinded, while driving, by many a prism! hee hee

But, seriously, beautiful thoughts, here. Thank you, Friend.

  4. Isn't it amazing, the things we contemplate at the kitchen sink? This is such a lovely reflection. Thank you for sharing it with me at Playdates!

    1. Our kitchen sinks are spaces with so much meaning, I believe. It is amazing to realize how much goes on in our inner lives while we are at them! Thank you for your comment, Laura, and for hosting Playdates!
